This is the moment a mother and her baby in a pushchair are sent flying off a zebra crossing when a car stops for them but lunges forward after it is rear-ended by a lorry a second later.

The heart-stopping accident happened on the streets of Lu’an City in East China’s Anhui Province on 22nd November, with both mother and child surviving the crash.

Traffic camera footage shows the cautious parent appearing on the side of the pedestrian crossing and checking for oncoming traffic.

She pushes her baby into the zebra crossing when a red SUV stops for her, but the same car then slams into the pair of them when the out-of-control lorry crashes into it from behind.

The SUV rolls over 100 feet along the road, knocking over the mother and running her over.

Her baby’s pushchair ends up upside down on the road, with the injured child, who was wearing a seat belt, seen struggle in the seat, the video shows.

In the footage, witnesses run over to help both mother and child.

The child was not seriously harmed and was later handed over to arriving paramedics, while the mum was not moved over fears of causing further injury.

The parent suffered no life-threatening injuries, reports said.

Investigations are ongoing.
