A jury found the defendant guilty of the femicide of his ex-girlfriend following the trial that started on 9th December.

During the trial, he denied committing the crime out of jealousy, telling the court he did it because the victim allegedly lied to him.

The defendant had previously also tried to escape the consequences of the murder by trying to feign mental illness. However, a medical report at the time ruled him fit to stand trial.

The evil killer, who hails from the city of Sao Bernardo do Campo in the state of Sao Paulo, had moved to Manaus for work in 2017 and met the victim in a nightclub.

The couple had been going out for just two months before the crime took place, with the victim’s body and the murder weapon being found in his apartment.
