Camel Left With Gory Disfigured Face After Saudi Owner Injects Botox To Win Beauty Comp

This is the shocking moment a camel is left with a horrifically disfigured mouth after being jabbed with botox to compete in a Saudi beauty contest.

In Saudi Arabia, camels are entered into beauty tournaments as well as races, and botox jabs are often injected into their lips and nose to help owners win the multi-million GBP prizes on offer.

Footage of one camel with a disfigured face after rupturing its lips has been widely shared on social networks where it sparked outrage among netizens and animal activists.

The injury was reportedly caused by botox shots and online critics want the local authorities to increase measures against owners who use such beauty products on their animals.

According to the news site Al Araby, botox is used to give the animals fuller lips, considered a key selling point for camel buyers, to improve their chances of winning lucrative beauty contests with multi-million GBP prize pools.

However, veterinarians and animal rights groups have slammed the use of products such as botox, often causing a loss of feeling and muscle control in the animals’ face.

Longer term, botox can cause significant injuries and even possibly damage vital organs.

One official told the newspaper Al Watan that the neurotoxic protein is not permitted for use on animals in Saudi Arabia.

Organisers of camel beauty contests often fine owners if they discover they used botox on their camels.

On Sunday, the Crown Prince Camel Festival got underway and organisers said the 11-day event will feature a vet who will advise owners on the best way to look after their camels.

At the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in 2018, over 10 camels were disqualified for having botox fillers, according to Al Araby.
