Calf Due To Be Sacrificed In Turkey Hides In Grocery Store

This is the moment a calf due to be sacrificed in Turkey flees into a shop and tries to hide behind the cash desk.

Many people in the country are currently sacrificing animals including sheep, goats, cows and even camels to mark the onset of Hajj and its accompanying Eid al-Adha celebration.

The animals killed are then butchered with the meat divided up between friends and family, the poor and the person making the sacrifices family.

But this particular calf tried to escape its fate after escape from the trailer it was being carried where it then ran into the grocery store after the vehicle transporting it to the sacrificial site stopped at a petrol station.

The calf ran into the grocery store in the Turkish city of Istanbul sending customers fleeing out the door, and it then ran back to the staff area where it hid by the cash till.

One of the people in the store, reportedly the calf owner, then covered its face with a cloth and it was slowly taken back out into the street where it was loaded back on the trailer and driven to the sacrificial site.
