A young woman missing for four days has been found dead in a cafe’s toilets after cops found CCTV footage that showed she went into the eatery and never came out.

Seher Akkoyun, 26 – who lived in the district of Eyupsultan, in the north-western Turkish province of Istanbul – left her flat last Saturday, 26th March. It was the last time her family would hear from her.

Her family members called the police and reported her missing after they failed to locate her.

Investigators working for the Public Security Branch Office of the Missing Persons Bureau then launched an investigation.

Police examined security camera footage around the building where the young woman lived.

They discovered that Seher had entered a building in the district of Kagithane on the evening of Wednesday, 30th March.

After she reached the lift inside the building, she entered a cafe and went to the toilet, but she never came back out.

At the same time, the cafe staff tried to access a toilet cubicle to clean it, but realised that the door was locked from the inside.

They unlocked the door and were shocked to find the young woman’s body in the toilet.

Cops called to the scene reportedly found Seher and a syringe next to her lifeless body.

It is unclear whether the syringe was empty or full when it was found or what it contained. It is also unclear where Seher had been and what she had been doing during the four days preceding her death.

After an initial examination by the public prosecutor and crime scene investigation teams, Seher’s body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of her death.

The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
