A Brazilian man has appeared naked in a Zoom call with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro after apparently forgetting to turn off his camera.
The bizarre incident reportedly took place in a virtual meeting with President Bolsonaro which had been organised by Paulo Skaf, the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo.
Local media report that as Skaf was speaking, the President interrupted him when he spotted the naked man, who reportedly works as an advisor for the federation.
He reportedly said: “Paulo, there’s a colleague there in the last little square, he left, is he okay?”
The Minister of Industry, Paulo Guedes, who was sitting next to Bolsonaro, then said: “There is a guy having a shower there, naked. There’s a naked guy there, isolating naked at home, great. The guy was getting hot with the conversation, so he went to take a cold shower.”
Bolsonaro reportedly responded with: “Unfortunately we saw. It was a shaky picture but we saw, unfortunately.”
The man who appeared naked has not been identified in local media.
Bolsonaro has been criticised for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Brazil the worst-hit country in Latin America.
He has repeatedly come out against social distancing and isolation and recently came out against the Governor of Sao Paulo, Joao Doria, saying that businesses need to “play hardball” with Doria as he is “one man deciding the future of the economy of Brazil”.
Doria, along with other state governors in Brazil, has declared lockdown in his state to stop the spread of the virus, closing businesses despite Bolsonaro openly criticising him for doing so.
According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Brazil has suffered 203,165 cases of COVID-19 with 13,999 deaths.
