This is the moment a woman who is not wearing a facemask despite coughing heavily and ignoring social distancing is forcibly kicked off a bus by other passengers.
The startling incident took place on a bus near the Piraja station in the city of Salvador in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, where the use of facemasks on buses is currently obligatory, and was recorded by an onlooker.
In the clip, a woman can be seen holding a facemask as she shouts at a man and begins coughing.
When she then appears to touch the man’s legs he kicks out at her as she continues shouting.
The woman then begins shouting in the man’s face, ignoring social distancing as other passengers become agitated.
Two onlookers then grab the woman and push her through the bus before forcing her off the vehicle.
The Military Police said in a statement that they had gone to the scene after the incident but could not find anybody involved when searching the area. No arrests have been reported.
Reports state she had got onto the bus with a facemask on but had taken it off as she walked down the aisle.
The city Salvador decreed that all passengers on public transport have to wear facemasks from 23rd April to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, there have been 136,519 cases of COVID-19 in Brazil with 9,265 deaths.
