This is the moment a crowded bus overturns in dramatic fashion when a speeding SUV slams into it from the side.

The accident happened on 22nd December in the city of Yuzhou in Henan Province in Central China.

Traffic cameras trained on the crossroads of Hexie Avenue and Yingchuan Road show the green bus travelling through the junction when the white Ford Kuga suddenly speeds into view.

In the video, the bus driver appears to veer to the left in a bid to avoid the collision, but the Ford SUV slams into the back of the bus nonetheless.

The impact causes the green bus carrying numerous passengers to overturn, and it kicks up dust as it slams sideways onto the road.

Footage taken in the aftermath of the accident show a number of passers-by trying to rescue passengers trapped inside by breaking the bus’s windscreen.

Local media reports said several passengers were injured and taken to hospital, but none suffered life-threatening conditions as a result of the accident.

It is unclear whether the drivers faces punishment for their involved in the crash, which is still under investigation.
