This is the moment a bus driver rushes to the aid of a woman after a large advertising hoarding suddenly collapses on top of her.

Dashcam footage from a number 3 bus in the city of Lanzhong in south-western China’s Sichuan Province shows the unsuspecting victim riding her scooter past the giant advertisement when it is blown over by a gust of wind.

Witnesses inside the bus gasp as the hoarding knocks the woman off her scooter and pins her to the road on the rainy day.

Driver Zhang Jianwei stops his bus, and in the video he can be heard asking his passengers to help him.

He and the others rush out the front door without umbrellas and begin removing the hoarding, lifting it and placing it back on the central reservation where it had been standing.

They then tend to the woman who had been pinned under her scooter by the hoarding.

Zhang said he and his passengers only returned to the bus when the woman assured them she would be fine on her own.

It is understood that she did not suffer any serious injuries.

Zhang, who has been praised by the public for his inspiring actions, said of the rescue: “It was instinctive. I saw the hoarding fall on the rider, so I jumped out to help.

“I didn’t think too much at the time, but I knew I would need help lifting the advertisement, and I knew there were enough people on-board for that.”

Reports did not say whether the owners of the advertisement would compensate the scooter rider for the ordeal.
