In the CCTV footage, the red lights are seen flashing and the barriers begin to lower as the bus, which was apparently carrying passengers, according to local news platform Observator, appears on the road.

However, instead of slowing down at the closing level crossing, the driver maintains his high speed and crashes into one barrier, knocking off his own wing mirror in the process, before weaving past the barrier on the other side and continuing on his way.

The images reached the local authorities and the driver has reportedly been fined RON 2,900 (GBP 496) and banned from driving for three months.

The police added that the driver caused damage to a barrier and a traffic light, but no one was injured as a result and no train services were delayed.
