This is the moment a handyman drops an air-conditioning unit 11 floors down the side of a high-rise tower block.

The rectangular appliance smashed against the ground near homeowners who were strolling in the gardens of the residential complex when the dangerous accident happened on 30th July.

Footage from the Vanke Golden Homestead Residential District in Shenzhen, which is in South China’s Guangdong Province, shows the air-conditioning unit falling down the side of Block 2.

A picture taken by one of the residents shows the box badly damaged after it has struck the ground with force, with neighbours suggesting it could have killed a pedestrian.

An unnamed resident said: “That is seriously frightening. There is no protection here at all. What if it had hit somebody?”

It has since been revealed that the Japanese-made Daikin air-conditioner belongs to a female homeowner living on the 11th floor.

She had purchased it online and a Daike installer came to set it up – but he accidentally dropped the compressor while moving it outside of her window.

She has filed a formal complaint against the company’s Chinese representatives.

A number of similar incidents have made headlines in China in recent weeks, including the case of a five-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a falling window in the same city on 13th June.
