This millionaire owner of the Bulgarian champions reportedly endangered the lives of 350 people by walking into a hospital after testing positive for coronavirus – causing the facility to close.

Kiril Domuschiev, 50, owner of Bulgarian top-flight club Ludogorets Razgrad entered the Sofiamed Hospital in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia after he tested positive for the coronavirus, officially named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization.

Local media report the incident risked infecting 180 medical staff and 170 patients with COVID-19 and prevented staff from carrying out their daily tasks.

The incident occurred on 17th March, however, reports of the incident are just now surfacing. Sofiamed Hospital remained closed for 48 hours with guards reportedly stopping anyone from going in or out but has since returned to normal.

Local doctor Atanas Magarov apparently criticised the entrepreneur for his actions saying: “How can he act like that? Because he’s a millionaire.”

There are reportedly four public hospitals designated for the treatment of COVID-19 in Sofia which did not include Sofiamed.

Domuschiev claims he contracted COVID-19 approximately two weeks ago during a trip to France.

The Bulgarian businessman made a post on the same day of the incident at Sofiamed saying he tested positive for COVID-19 but was “following all quarantine requirements imposed” and told people to “beware” and “follow all rules” reportedly after failing to follow his own advice.

Domuschiev made another post this week giving news of his recovery saying: “I’m healthy now! I beat COVID-19 and I already have antibodies.

“It remains to finally recover from pneumonia. (sic) I want to thank the medical team who looked after me and my wife. Exceptional professionals!”

He went on to apologise saying: “With such medics we will fight the coronavirus! Thank you also to everyone from ‘Sofiamed’, whom I regret to have created quite a lot of trouble unintentionally! (sic)

“Beware, but don’t be afraid! There is treatment. Be smart and take care of yourself and your loved ones!”

Domuschiev’s wife and three kids have reportedly tested negative for the virus with Bulgaria reporting 242 cases leading to three deaths.

Ludogorets are based in Razgrad and compete in the First Professional Football League, the top-tier of Bulgaria. They have been crowned Bulgarian national champions for eight consecutive seasons (2011/2012 – 2018/2019).
