These images show the builder who forgot his severed finger in a taxi while rushing to hospital after a workplace accident.

The incident took place in the city of Wuhan in the eastern Chinese province of Hubei when the builder, surnamed Xu, lost a finger at work.

Reports said that he was advised he had around five hours to take the severed finger to hospital so that doctors could reattach the digit.

However, Xu decided that he wanted to go to another hospital in the district of Wuchang to undergo the surgery and he waited for a taxi to arrive.

Towards the end of the 60-kilometre (37-mile) trip, the taxi became stuck in a traffic jam and Xu decided to jump out and run the rest of the way.

However, he left his finger in the back of the cab.

When the builder arrived at the hospital, he realised he did not have his finger nor a receipt for the taxi ride or any other way of calling the cabbie.

According to local media, Xu called the police and an officer reviewed the CCTV footage to identify the taxi’s licence plate.

The cop then sent out an alert and the taxi driver was contacted 30 minutes later.

Reports said that the driver was already on his way back to the hospital when he received the call because he had discovered the tissue-wrapped finger on the back seat.

Luckily, Xu’s finger arrived at the hospital in time and was successfully reattached, according to local media.
