Brothers Arrested For Stabbing Australian Tourist

Two brothers have been arrested for stabbing Australian tourist Terrence Bulmer in the chest during an attempted robbery in Argentina last week.

The incident occurred on 18th January in front of the Law University in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, while Australian tourist Terrence Luke Bulmer, 65, from Brisbane, was on his normal morning run.

According to official sources, CCTV cameras in the area filmed the incident and helped the police to identify the attackers.

Reports said that two brothers aged 21 and 20 have been arrested at a house located in Barrio 31, and the arrest warrant was issued by prosecutor Martin Lopez Perrando.

According to local media, one of the brothers, who has a criminal record for failing to appear at a court summons in 2015, has admitted to stabbing Bulmer.

Reports said that the suspect was also arrested in May 2019 in connection with an armed robbery before being detained again three months later for another aggravated robbery attempt. Thirty days later he was arrested a third time for the same crime.

Meanwhile, the 65-year-old victim is still hospitalised in a critical condition, according to local media.

After the attack, he was reportedly admitted to the Hospital Fernandez for emergency surgery.

According to hospital sources, he remains in a medically induced coma in the hospital’s ICU and is also being treated for pneumonia.

The Australian tourist, who was travelling with his wife Janette, had arrived in the Argentine capital the day before the attack on Friday 17th January and planned to spend a short time in the city.

They were going to take a cruise to visit Chile and Antarctica on the Sunday morning, according to reports.

He was attacked at around 7am on Saturday while jogging in front of the Law University.

The investigation is ongoing.
