This brother and sister flying duo have been killed after building a plane and then crashing it while putting on a mini air show for their family.

The incident took place when the victims, identified as Hernan Marcos, 45, and his sister Yael Marcos, 31, were flying the Sonerai II model which they had built themselves and performing acrobatics for members of their family at a local flying club.

The airfield where the accident happened was in the city of Esperanza in the northeastern Argentine province of Santa Fe and the two siblings were reportedly killed instantly when the plane crashed into the ground.

A woman who witnessed the crash described how the yellow coloured plane carrying the two suddenly vanished after a manoeuvre, and she realised something was wrong when people started running to the place where it had vanished.

She said she heard somebody shout that her children were in the plane.

An investigation is being carried out and the cause of the crash is still not known. Local media revealed however that both the brother and sister on board were experienced pilots and often took part in air shows around the country.

Hernan was also a paraglider as well as being a pilot, and he recently discussed the plane that he built in which he crashed in an interview with local media.

His sister Yael had studied Business in Rafaela and Business Management in Santa Fe. She loved animals and often joined her brother during his various flying activities.
