A heartbroken German politician has lost the chance to be a constitutional judge after negative publicity about her husband who left her and their three children for an adult actress.
Free Democratic Party (FDP) politician Karoline Preisler, 51, apparently failed to impress judges after she went public to reveal her 44-year-old husband, Hagen Reinhold’s had cheated on her with ex-porn star Annina Semmelhaack-Ucatis, 43, in the bed of one of her two homes.
She reportedly commuted between Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Berlin and was aspiring to succeed constitutional judge Andreas before recent revelations about her private life.
She reportedly said in a statement on Thursday (8th December): “After a long struggle, I have decided not to continue my candidacy for the office of constitutional judge in the state of Brandenburg.
“Events in my private life and reports about them have recently made headlines.
“To avert damage to the dignity of the office of constitutional judge and my democratic homeland, I am not standing for further election.”
Brandenburg FDP state chairman Zyon Braun expressed his regret following Preisler’s withdrawal who he claimed had a great chance of winning the majority of votes in the state parliament.
But another member of the parliament criticised Preisler’s behaviour and said: “The candidates must be technically and personally suitable.”
Earlier this week Preisler had opened up about her husband’s new relationship and said: “Of course the last few weeks have been difficult for the whole family.
“Such a breakup is hurtful and doesn’t leave you unaffected: I’ve had a few sleepless nights. But everyday life goes on with all its challenges.
“Being public and private at the same time is not easy. I am currently heartbroken.”
Reinhold and double-G breasted former porn star Annina Ucatis-Semmelhaack had reportedly met through a mentoring programme run by the FDP-affiliated Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
Ucatis-Semmelhaack was married to real estate billionaire Theodor Semmelhaack, 65, in 2013, but both Ucatis and Reinhold insist their relationships had ended before their liaison.
However, Preisler claimed that the two had even slept together in her bed next to photos of the kids.
She said: “But I would have found it more respectful if the meetings hadn’t also taken place in my Berlin apartment and in my bed, next to the photos of our children that were on the shelf.
“Love is a power of heaven. I would have forgiven him. A fling, also several, also a clean separation.”
Meanwhile, the ex porn star’s 65-year-old husband had nothing to tell the media other than wishing the new couple all the best.
Theodor Semmelhaack said: “We have been separated for some time – and we do not argue. I wish Annina all the best!”
The final decision for the new constitutional judge is expected to be made on Thursday, 15th December.
