This footage shows an unfortunate homeowner being hit from behind by a car which pins him to a pillar, reportedly breaking his back.

The fatal accident happened in the Laijiang Residential District in the city of Liyang, which is in Jiangsu Province in East China.

In the video, the homeowner can be seen standing in the underground car park’s south exit and facing the ramp leading out of the parking area.

A silver saloon then suddenly appears in frame and rams the victim from behind, pushing him and pinning him against a concrete pillar.

In the distressing footage, the male victim is crushed by the motorist’s car which appears to severely bend his back, reportedly breaking his spine.

As the vehicle rolls away towards the end of the video, the victim is seen slumping to the ground.

According to witnesses, the man died of his injuries, but it is unclear whether he was declared dead on the spot or later at a hospital.

It is understood that Liyang authorities are investigating the case.

The police have not commented on whether they had arrested the vehicle’s driver.
