Brit Wanted For 53 UK Sex Crimes Arrested In Spain

A British fugitive wanted for 53 cases of sex abuse against family members in the United Kingdom between 1956 and 2000 has been arrested in southern Spain.

The suspect, named as Roller Barry Hockingol by Spanish police, was arrested near his house in Albox in the province of Almeria in the southern Spanish autonomous region of Andalusia in a joint operation between the National Police and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

A National Police spokesperson told Central European News (CEN) that the British suspect is named Roller Barry Hockingol and that he was born in 1945, making him about 74 years old.

He is accused of 53 separate counts of sexual abuse against family members between 1956 and 2000, including his brothers, cousins and nephews.

His victims were reportedly aged between five and 16 years old, while Hockingol himself would have been a minor during the 1950s.

Although details are limited at the moment, the National Police told CEN that the arrest took place following a joint operation with the Spanish National Police and the UK’s NCA.

The elderly suspect has currently been placed on remand. It is unclear if he has been charged. It is believed he will be extradited to the UK.
