Brit Tourist Hospitalised After Ibiza Cliff Jump In Sea

A 38-year-old British tourist has been hospitalised in Ibiza after jumping into the sea from a 130-foot-high cliff edge and injuring his legs and spine.

The incident took place in the area of Cap Negret located in the municipality of Sant Antoni in Ibiza in the Spanish Balearic Islands at around 3.40pm on 28th July.

According to the local newspaper Periodico de Ibiza, the unnamed man jumped into the sea from the cliff voluntarily, but injured himself upon impact with the water.

The UK national jumped from a reported height of 40 metres (131 feet).

Other tourists in the area rescued the Brit from the water and brought him ashore.

Local Police and Civil Guard officers and firefighters attended the scene and reportedly had difficulty carrying the injured man from the coastal area by hand.

The health authority of Ibiza and Formentera told Periodico de Ibiza that the patient was admitted to the Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza Town where he is said to be in a stable condition.

The British tourist reportedly suffered injuries to his legs and spine.
