Brit Boy Airlifted to Hospital After Ski School Crash

A British schoolboy has been badly hurt and airlifted to hospital after a skiing accident at a ski school in Austria.

The boy was a member of a group with a ski school and the accident happened at the resorts Snowpark fun area around 11 AM on Monday.

According to police, the 12-year-old boy from the United Kingdom, who has not been named, was skiing in the popular resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim, which is also a spa town in the district of Spittal an der Drau, in Carinthia in southern Austria.

According to police, the youngster had gone over a small hill on the piste in order to make a jump in the fun park area and crashed on the other side.

He suffered severe back injuries and was given emergency first aid at the scene, but then had to be flown with the Alpin 1 emergency helicopter to the LKH regional hospital in Villach.

Bad Kleinkirchheim is a municipality and spa town in the district of Spittal an der Drau, in Carinthia, in Austria. Until roughly the 1950s, agriculture had been the dominant focus, but now it is known as a famous spa and ski resort.
