A quick-thinking six-year-old girl has escaped a couple who tried to abduct her in the street after she asked them for the ‘secret family password’ and evaded them when they guessed incorrectly.

The girl’s mother told local media that a couple tried to kidnap her young daughter in the village of Major de Esporles in Majorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands.

The bright six-year-old girl asked the couple for the family password and when they guessed incorrectly she ran away.

Luckily, the girl’s family had set up the password measure to prevent such incidents from taking place.

According to reports, the female suspect grabbed the girl by the arm and left scratch marks, but the plucky youngster managed to break free and escape.

The mother reported the kidnapping attempt to the police when her daughter arrived home.

The girl drew a picture of the couple, who are believed to be aged between 45 and 50, with speech bubbles.

In the drawing, the woman says: “You mum told us that we have to pick you up.”

A speech bubble next to the man says: “Girl, your mother told us to pick you up and take you to the caravan and give you ice-cream.”

The drawing also has the words ‘malos’ (‘bad people’) with two arrows pointing to the couple and a sketch of a girl running away.

The mother told local media: “It made my stomach churn.”

The Spanish Civil Guard is investigating the incident.
