Bricklayer Arrested For Killing Young Mum Of Two And Concreting Her Up In Wall On Building Site

The dead body of this young mum-of-two has been found concreted up in a wall eight days after she went missing, and a bricklayer has subsequently confessed to strangling her with a T-shirt.

The dead body of 25-year-old student Joice Maria da Gloria Rodrigues was found concreted up in a wall in the coastal city of Sao Vicente in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.

The police made the grim find on Tuesday, 5th October, eight days after she vanished without a trace after visiting her grandfather at his house in the neighbourhood of Parque Bitaru.

She had gone to her grandfather’s house on the afternoon of Monday, 27th September, and left at around 7 pm.

The last contact she had with her family was when she called her husband, with whom she lived in the neighbourhood of Quarantenario with their two daughters, from a bus stop.

The alarm was raised after she failed to arrive home or answer her phone, which went straight to voicemail, and a missing persons report was then filed with the police.

Her relatives report that she had never gone missing before.

The police found her body concreted up in a wall under a ladder on a building site in the neighbourhood of Esplanada dos Barreiros eight days later.

They had been called to the scene by the owner of the lot, who had noticed a bad smell emanating from the newly-laid wall.

The police knocked a hole in the wall, where they found the victim’s naked body with a black T-shirt wrapped around her neck.

Two suspects were subsequently arrested by officers from the neighbouring city of Santos.

One of the suspects, a 56-year-old bricklayer working on the site, told them during questioning that he had sex with the woman before strangling her to death with a T-shirt.

The other suspect is reported to be 35 years old, and his alleged role in the crime was not reported.

The police seized plastic containers usually used to carry cocaine and a bag containing knickers from the building site.

The investigation is ongoing, and no possible motive for the crime has yet been reported.
