The victim’s family said he left home at around 8am and went to a bank to withdraw cash ahead of travelling to Iracema Beach on a motorbike he had borrowed from his sister-in-law.

After telling relatives that he would return by 11am, they started searching for him when he failed to show up and used his motorbike tracker to find his location.

The tracker indicated that the motorbike was at Iracema Beach, and his family went there to look for him.

While on the beach, witnesses told the family members that they saw two men with sticks forcing the singer to walk to a car, according to the news site G1.

His body was found by swimmers off Leste-Oeste Beach on Wednesday morning with injuries possibly caused by a sharp object.

He was 20 years old and was getting ready for his first show in the neighbourhood of Bonsucesso in Fortaleza on 3rd December. He would have turned 21 on 26th November.

The investigation is ongoing.

Last week, another popular Brazilian singer was killed after trying to break up a fight in a bar.

Jonathan Gomes de Araujo, known professionally as MC Jotinha, was shot dead in the neighbourhood of Pilar in the city of Duque de Caxias, in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Area, in the early hours of 16th November. He was just 17 years old.

According to the victim’s dad Jones de Araujo, who witnessed the alleged crime, the singer tried to break up a fight in a bar and was leaving when he was fatally shot.

Jones told G1: “He was at the party and I went there to call him home. He hugged me, told me he loved me and would stay with me until the last day of his life. That’s when the confusion started next to us, with his friends, and he went to separate them.

“I couldn’t bear to see my son’s head all bloodied. When I went after the person who opened fire, he pointed his gun at me too, but others held him back.”

The police were called to the scene, but were only able to attest to the teen’s death. The local Homicide Department is now investigating the case, and investigators are scouring CCTV footage for clues as to the perpetrator’s identity.

According to Jones, MC Jotinha started singing at the tender age of just four. His professional career arguably began in 2011 when fellow singer MC PR discovered him and invited him to participate in his single ‘Roba Cena’, which was a big hit in Rio de Janeiro and beyond.
