Brazilian Girl, 15, Finds Growling Puma In Family Home

This is the moment a father films a growling puma in the family bathroom after his 15-year-old daughter went into the living room and found it lying on the sofa.

The puma was eventually captured from the family home in the town of Sao Pedro in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, and was later released in the wild.

The fire brigade arrived on the scene and, due to the animal’s size, a vet from the nearby Piracicaba Zoo was called to tranquillise the puma.

A neighbour and family friend, named as nurse technician Sonia Maria Silva, said the puma was found by the couple’s 15-year-old daughter who was with her one-year-old sibling at the time.

She heard a noise in the living room, and when she went to check what it was, saw the puma on the sofa.

The neighbour continued: “The daughter told her father ‘Dad, there’s an animal in here’. He came in thinking it was a small animal, but it turned out to be a puma.”

The family dog even approached the animal and was slapped twice, according to Sonia.

The puma ended up going into the bathroom when the family locked the door and managed to keep it inside until the fire brigade arrived.

Sonia said the puma had previously been inside another house on the next street where the owner managed to scare it away, sending it towards the house where it was eventually captured.

According to a statement from the city hall, the animal, a healthy adult female puma (Puma concolor), was tranquillised and later released into an area of woodland with the help of a veterinarian.
