This is the heroic moment a brave teenager rescues a cat from drowning in the cold sea.

The incident took place in the district of Mudanya in the province of Bursa on the Sea of Marmara in Turkey, when the unnamed 18-year-old teen and other residents spotted the cat struggling in the water.

As the cat was reportedly trying to swim but did not have a place to get out it started to drown.

The video filmed by a witness shows the half-naked teen in the water as many onlookers watch him from the bridge.

One of them is seen holding a rope with a basket attached on it so the teen can place the cat inside.

The first time he fails but then manages to put it in and the cat is pulled up.

Apparently using the same rope the teen is then lifted on the bridge.

The locals have reportedly asked him about the brave act but he refused to talk about it. He works in a construction area, according to local media.

While domestic cats are capable of swimming, they are generally reluctant to enter water because it quickly leads to exhaustion.

It is not known how the cat ended up in the water.

Netizen ‘Hatice’ commented: “May God bless you boy with a big heart.”

And ‘Yorumcucu’ added: “Praised be this young compassionate man… I even felt chills while watching this. May God bless you.”
