The incident was filmed in the city of Ganzhou in the Chinese province of Jiangxi and shared on the social network Douyin, which is how TikTok is known in China.

According to Baidu News, the boy wanted sweets but his mother was unwilling to buy them and had to leave for work.

As a result, the young lad clung onto his mum’s scooter as she made her way along the street.

In the footage, the boy is seen calmly hanging onto the back of the scooter as his legs drag along the ground.

His mother, apparently aware that her son is clinging onto her scooter, rides carefully along the street and looks around at one point before continuing on her travels.

Meanwhile, a man standing outside a shop turns around to see the unusual scene and immediately reaches for his phone to start filming.

It is unclear how the matter resolved itself or whether the local police intend to look into the incident.
