This is the heart-stopping moment a young boy running across a street survives unscathed after an SUV knocks him down and runs over him with both front and rear wheels.

The incident happened in the town of Mingfeng in Pengxi County in China’s south-western Sichuan Province on 10th February.

Dashcam footage from a vehicle travelling behind the Honda SUV shows the car stopped in the middle of the road when the boy suddenly appears from behind a passing pedicab.

The young boy, who is two or three years old according to the police, begins dashing across the narrow street at the same moment the Honda begins moving again.

The oblivious motorist knocks the child to the ground and then proceeds to drive over the boy’s back with the car’s front and rear wheels.

Stunned witnesses stop the SUV while others rush over to the boy, with one man even risking further injury to the child by picking him up off the road.

However, Pengxi authorities say the boy was taken to hospital and did not appear to have suffered any injuries.

He was to remain under observation for 72 hours before being discharged, the police said.

The Honda owner, who has not been identified, volunteered to take full liability for the accident.
