A young boy has been reunited with his beloved toy dinosaur after several weeks apart following a viral online appeal to track it down.

The boy’s mother Sem Garcia posted photos of her young son, whose name and age are not disclosed, pinning posters to lampposts around the city of Toluca in the central Mexican state of Mexico.

The youngster lost his best fluffy friend, a dinosaur named ‘Babysaurio’, at a park on 31st August.

On Facebook, Garcia said that her son was “feeling terrible being without it”, explaining that the toy dino had always been with him while eating, sleeping and even travelling.

The post provoked an outpour of sympathy and was ‘liked’ over 25,000 times and shared by nearly 60,000 netizens.

One week after launching the online appeal, and nearly three weeks since its disappearance, the boy was reunited with Babysaurio after a resident found the toy and returned it to its delighted owner.

Garcia thanked everyone in the post, saying: “Friends! Babysaurio has returned! It is not a similar one or a distant cousin but our very own Babysaurio!”

She shared a photo of the dinosaur ‘posing’ with sunglasses on after apparently going on holiday for a while.
