Boy, 8, Drowns In Swimming Pool With Nobody Including His Parents Noticing

This is the shocking moment an eight-year-old boy drowns at a swimming pool while onlookers including his own parents fail to notice he is in difficulty.

The incident took place when Yusuf Asaf Tiktas and his mum and dad went to cool off at an outdoor swimming pool in the western Turkish city of Manisa on Wednesday, 7th July.

Security camera footage shows the moment the eight-year-old boy enters the water with a splash via a slide on the edge of the pool.

He is then seen struggling in the water for well over a minute in full view of other swimmers and people including his own parents, who can be seen relaxing on sun loungers on the pool edge.

However, the other pool-goers somehow fail to notice the youngster is in trouble, despite him splashing about and his head barely remaining above the water.

When his parents finally noticed he was drowning, they dragged him out of the pool and the onsite medical team whisked him off to the Hafsa Sultan Celal Bayar University Hospital.

He was taken into intensive care, where he remained fighting for his life for several days.

However, he finally succumbed to his injuries caused by his brain being starved of oxygen and died on Monday, 12th July, leaving his parents, Saime and Engin Tiktas, distraught.

It is unclear if the police are investigating the case.
