Boy, 4, Dies After Choking On Cake That Blocked His Windpipe

This four-year-old boy has died in hospital following a four-day battle for his life after he ate a piece of cake and choked when it blocked his windpipe, causing him to fall unconscious.

The incident took place in the city of Nizip, which is located in Gaziantep Province in south-eastern Turkey.

The young boy has been named by local media outlet Sabah as Mohammed Abdullah, 4. He reportedly died after losing consciousness when the piece of cake blocked his windpipe and he spent four days in hospital fighting for his life.

The boy’s throat had been obstructed by the piece of cake he was eating and his concerned family members called the emergency services, which arrived on the scene.

Responding medics took the young boy to Nizip State Hospital where he died after four days. The newspaper reports that doctors performed multiple interventions over the course of the night but they were in vain and he died.

The young boy’s body was returned to his relatives so that he can be buried and the newspaper reports that the authorities are investigating the incident.

The young boy is reportedly going to be buried in the Karkamis district, which is also located in Gaziantep.
