This is the moment the emergency services help a 12-year-old boy who stepped on a spike and impaled his foot while trying to climb over a church fence.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Cidade Nova in the city of Manaus in the Brazilian state of Amazonas on 23rd October.

According to the news site Extra, the 12-year-old boy stepped on an iron spike while climbing over a church fence and ended up impaling his foot.

The boy was stuck on the fence with the spike protruding from his foot until the emergency services arrived to free the youngster and treat his injury.

The young lad was then taken to hospital for further medical care.

In the footage, the emergency services are seen helping the boy as a crowd of onlookers gathers in front of the church fence.

The boy is seen holding the metal bars as a paramedic treats his foot after he apparently stood on one of the metal spikes located between each vertical bar.

A photo taken later that day shows the boy apparently lying on a hospital bed with a section of the metal fence still attached to his foot from the protruding spike.

It is unclear why the boy was trying to climb the metal fence and there have been no further updates on his condition.
