Boxing Champion Dead After Shocking Car Accident

This is the moment a former boxing champion suffers a shocking car accident when the car he is travelling in flips onto its side and crashes into a lamppost.

Former Argentine World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Latino Champion Leonardo Javier Gonzalez, 44, died in the early hours of Sunday 3rd November in Tigre, a town in the Buenos Aires province in Argentina.

In the video, the car the former champions was travelling in can be seen out of control instants before violently crashing into a barrier.

The car is seen breaking through the barrier and a signpost before coming to a sudden stop against a lamppost.

Local media report Gonzalez, who was in the passenger seat, died instantly in the accident as his side of the vehicle suffered the brunt of the damage.

The driver, who has not been identified by local media, was reportedly transferred to a local hospital after suffering serious injuries.

There have been no reports or updates on his condition.

Gonzalez was an Argentine professional fighter between the years 1995 and 2013 with 20 professional fights and a record of 15-5-0, with five wins by KO.

He was a super middleweight WBO Latino Champion in 1997 beating Colombian Brinatty Maquilon on points to claim the title. WBO Latino is an affiliate organisation of the WBO.
