This is the moment a Chinese woman is found in her boyfriend’s car boot while trying to get around a quarantine order allowing only one member of each household to go shopping at a time.

The unnamed woman from Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province in East China, is said to have been ‘too bored’ while being forced to stay home during the height of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak on 7th February.

In a bid to stop the respiratory disease from spreading further, large gated communities in some of the worst affected provinces have enforced quarantine policies, which require all residents to remain indoors until further notice.

Each household is allowed to send one person to shop for groceries and other necessities once a day, and the woman reportedly managed to escape isolation by hiding in the boot of her boyfriend’s car.

However, footage shows police and other checkpoint staff inspecting the boyfriend’s car as he returns, and when they open his boot and are shocked to find the woman lying inside.

The authorities said the couple did not come in contact with any quarantined coronavirus carriers, and did not show any symptoms of the pneumonia-like disease.

They were finally let off with a warning, the police said.

The Wuhan coronavirus death toll has surged to 910, all but two of which were recorded in mainland China, where there are also more than 40,000 confirmed cases.
