This beautiful blonde Russian woman who was beaten for years by her husband but kept returning to him has died after he allegedly shot her in the head when she finally decided to leave him for good.

Natalia Korneeva, 40, had frequently tried to dump her 41-year-old husband Aleksey Ermakov over his frequent violent attacks, always trying to excuse him by saying that she had fallen over or somehow injured herself during frequent hospital visits.

However, when she finally decided enough was enough and the one time that she refused to accept his apologies any longer, he pulled out a gun and shot her in the head.

A security guard said that he had seen the woman with her ex-husband the night she died, and she appeared injured possibly after another beating. She had asked the guard to get an ambulance, and when he had gone to make a phone call he heard a gunshot, and discovered the woman lying on the ground with the ex-husband running away.

The security guard who was not named told local media that the man had said: “If you call the cops, then I will return and blow you up with a grenade.”

She was taken to hospital by ambulance but died at the weekend after spending three days in intensive care at the hospital No. 67 in the Russian capital.

Family and friends of the murdered woman said that every time he beat her, he would turn up the next day telling her he loved her above everything else, and apologising for what he had done. Sometimes, they said, it would only take a few hours before he would start hitting her again.

They said that she had finally realised he would never change, and filed for divorce even though she told everyone she still loved him.

She had moved in with relatives in Moscow but was working at a company with a relative of a husband and he continued to pester her after she left work to return.

After his arrest, he claimed that it was an accident. He said: “I just wanted to talk to her, but the conversation got out of control. I admit I was jealous and I wanted to fire the gun in her direction. Unfortunately, I hit her in the head.”

The investigation continues.
