The incident was filmed by a body-cam during a protest in the city of Seattle in the US state of Washington in July this year.

The female protester claimed that the cop’s baton left her with a chipped tooth and a bloodied lip and filed a complaint.

Following a lengthy review, the Seattle Office of Police Accountability concluded that a cop acted correctly when he felt he had to use a baton to detain two demonstrators.

The incident took place when the police were clearing the Capitol Hill Protest Zone, a self-declared autonomous zone, of George Floyd protesters who had camped there for several weeks.

In the video, the Seattle police are seen trying to move a small crowd of protesters on.

A black woman is seen shouting at officers and approaching them in a threatening manner.

As she approaches the filming cop, a male protester positions himself between them and the officer raises his baton.

The baton appears to catch the woman in the face, however, a closer examination shows the man’s elbow is knocked upwards and strikes the protester when reviewed in slow motion.

The Office of Police Accountability concluded that the woman shoved the other protester towards the cop and that the man’s elbow probably hit her and not the baton. The woman’s complaint was thereby rejected.

Newsflash

Both the woman and male protester were arrested at the time and their complaints are now considered closed.
