This is the bizarre moment heavy rain pounds one parked car while those nearby remain dry.

The footage was uploaded to Instagram by ‘uryanriana’ yesterday, 2nd November and according to the news site Coconuts was recorded in the town of Cikarang located in the Indonesian province of West Java on 31st October.

In the clip, a heavy stream of rain can be seen hitting the roof of Toyota MPV whilst the other cars parked just next to the Toyota are untouched by the rainfall.

In the caption ‘uryanriana’ wrote: “I thought somebody might have been spraying water, but there was no one else at the parking lot at the time.

“Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come in the days ahead.”

Several comments from Netizens on the video said that the bizarre rainfall was evidence of God.

Coconuts reports that The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), an Indonesian non-departmental government agency for meteorology, has not yet confirmed the authenticity of the footage.

The BMKG aid that such a small but intense localized rain is unlikely but not entirely impossible.

Coconuts reports that Dwi Rini Endra Sari, BMKG spokesperson, said: “The possibility of it happening is very small. This is because the diameter of a cumulonimbus cloud, which produces rain, generally stretches to dozens or hundreds of kilometres.”

According to Dwi even if wind conditions allowed for the formation of such concentrated precipitation shaft rainfall of a lower intensity should have hit the surrounding area.

The BMKG confirmed that rain did fall in Cikarang on 31st October but it is not clear if they plan to carry out an investigation into the unexplained event.
