This is the moment a curious canary pecks at a traffic camera above a motorway in Brazil.
The yellow bird appeared in front of the camera at kilometre 18 of the SP-150 state highway in Sao Bernardo Do Campo, Sao Paulo state, on consecutive mornings, on 8th and 9th December.
Local media wondered if it was an omen, as the Brazil national football team – which is nicknamed O Canarinho, or The Little Canary – was due to play Croatia later on Friday.

However, the little bird failed to bring the country good luck, as Brazil ended up bowing out of the World Cup to rivals Croatia on penalties.
The Brazil squad’s nickname was coined by the late cartoonist Fernando Pieruccetti during the 1950 World Cup.
Four years later, the team changed its kit to its current iteration featuring the colours of the national flag from its earlier white-and-blue strip.

Before boarding the team bus for their matches in Qatar, the Brazil players were greeted by a canary-inspired mascot dubbed Canarinho Pistola, or Angry Little Canary, by fans.
