The pretty Russian mum who was led into a forest by her sick husband before he chopped her hands off with an axe because she wanted to leave him has revealed what took place on that fateful day two years ago.
According to local media, Margarita Grachyova, 26, from Serpukhov in the western Russian region of Moscow Oblast was attacked by her husband Dmitry in December 2017 after he accused her of being unfaithful.
Doctors managed to reattach her left hand, but her right hand required a prosthetic limb she calls her “bionic arm”.
When discussing her relationship with Dmitry, Margarita said: “We basically shared a flat. We would come home from work, eat and go to bed.
“We were occupied with our own things and I decided it was time for us to divorce in the autumn (2017).
“I did not want to deprive my children of their father and thought that we would raise them together as loving parents.”
She said that her life became a living hell after informing Dmitry of her plans.
When discussing the fateful incident in the forest, Margarita told local media: “He was mumbling something, I think he liked that I was terrified.
“He told me ‘you want to buy a car and drive it, let’s see how that will work. I wouldn’t bother getting a car or another man, you won’t even be able to touch our children which is something you love so much’.”
She said that she thought her husband was going to kill her in that moment.
Margarita explained: “I was struggling to stay on my knees and he threatened me with the axe if I tried to move. He would tell me to kneel down and would not let me take my hands away from the stump.
“I was screaming a lot and I kept asking myself how it was possible I was conscious throughout. I did not pass out though, and he continued to hit me over and over. I think he hit me around 40 times.”
Her husband was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the attack.
The mother-of-two said that she feels happy now, but claims that Russia’s social care leaves a lot to be desired and she would like to see reforms for disabled people soon.
