In the footage, the stunt rider, identified as 28-year-old Steven Sallo, is seen performing in the ‘Globe of Death’.

After climbing the huge cage on his motorbike, Sallo then drops from a reported height of four metres (13 feet) as the crowd falls silent.

Based on the released video, the motorbike also fell on Sallo.

According to local media, the motorcyclist was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a head injury and a number of minor injuries to his chest, forearm, pelvis and elbow.

Circus representatives said that the stunt rider’s injuries were minor and that he returned to work the next day.

Netizen ‘Elena Evstigneeva’ said: “I hope this man recovers quickly. All the best to him.”

Sergyiev Posad is a famous religious centre in Russia that grew around the 15th-century Trinity Lavra Monastery, considered one of the largest in the country.
