This beautiful young Russian writer has died after apparently going on a starvation diet.

Adeline Sheldon, 20, was discovered in her rented flat in the district of Zyuzino in the Russian capital Moscow on 22nd February.

Sheldon’s 59-year-old landlord found her after trying to contact her since 4th February, the last time they spoke.

According to local media, the landlord went to the flat after failing to reach Sheldon on the phone and tried to open the door with his key, but found that it was locked from the inside.

After a locksmith came to open the door, the landlord found Sheldon lying on the floor near her bed after having died at least several days previously.

He contacted the emergency services and officers on the scene were unable to find any traces of a violent death.

According to local media, the young writer appeared to have starved to death.

Comments in her diary suggested that she often went through dry fasting periods, and there was virtually no food in the flat.

It appears as though the young woman collapsed at home through weakness, but no calls were registered to the emergency services or local doctors.

According to nutritionist Nuria Dianova, dry fasting restricts both food and water and is a dangerous diet to try for most.

Sheldon was considered a rising star in literary circles and she started writing at the age of 12.

She was a fan of historical literature and author of the book ‘Crown’ about the French royal family of the 17th and 18th centuries.

She was fond of equestrian sports and dancing. She studied at the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Business and Economics.

However, she was said to be a loner who led a reclusive lifestyle and rarely went outside. None of her neighbours even saw guests come over.

There have been no further updates on the autopsy results and status of the investigation.
