A brave pet pooch went paw-to-paw with a bear to save its owner.

Astonishing footage of the encounter in a Turkish mountain town emerged on social media.

The pair clashed in the snow in Uludag – a winter tourism resort in the Turkish province of Bursa – while the dog’s owner was taking it for a walk.

According to local reports, the hungry bear approached the built-up area from a nearby mountain forest in search of food.

A man, whose name was not reported, saw the bear approaching while he was out with his two dogs.

In CCTV footage, the man is seen outside in the snow with his dogs before noticing something in the distance and running away out of shot.

Meanwhile, his two dogs are seen being chased by a young bear before stopping to stand their ground.

One dog takes a backseat and looks on in the background as its pal takes on the bear.

The pair clash heads several times before the bear gets the better of the brave pooch and chases it away.

The two dogs run out of view as the bear wanders off in the direction it came from.

Reports said neither the bear nor the dog showed signs of any wounds after the brawl.
