A Polish property owner is to be prosecuted after an explosion in a bar that turned this pretty young barmaid into a human torch, leaving her with 80 percent burns.

The young woman, identified as 30-year-old Daria, and whose surname was not given, had been working in the bar in the Polish city of Poznan when the explosion happened.

Eyewitnesses said the blast was caused by a fuel container that exploded and injured four people, with the young woman the most seriously hurt after she was “engulfed in flames”.

The fuel container that exploded had been set up to feed alcohol to a nearby bio ethanol fireplace, and prosecutors say the property owner was to blame for the tragedy.

Daria was nearest to the fire and therefore suffered the worst burns – with eyewitness describing her as a “living torch”.

She was taken to hospital critically injured, and after being put into an artificial coma, she started to rally so much so that doctors thought after a few days that she might actually make it.

Medics said that they started to talk about a skin transplant, but then unexpectedly her condition dramatically worsened and she died.

The prosecutor’s office said that the property owner, identified only as Ziemowit M., had been charged with accidental death and failure in health and safety obligations in a place of work.

He has already rejected the allegations. Prosecutors are now preparing for the case.
