This is the moment a banned male motorist smashes into a woman on a zebra crossing before swapping places with his girlfriend in the passenger seat to hide it.

The man was filmed getting out of the driver’s seat by a CCTV camera in the town of Sulkowice in the southern Polish region of Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

In the video footage, the 59-year-old woman is seen walking along the zebra crossing as a Mercedes fails to stop and smashes into her, sending the pedestrian spinning in the air.

As the pedestrian crashes to the tarmac, the silver Mercedes pulls over and a man is seen getting out of the driver’s side while a woman rushes to the woman from the passenger’s side.

When they return to the Mercedes, the girlfriend sits behind the driver’s wheel and the man gets in the passenger’s seat.

According to local media, the victim was admitted to hospital with three fractured cervical vertebra.

Reports said that the 24-year-old woman gave a statement saying that she was driving the Mercedes at the time of the accident.

However, the CCTV footage appears to show that the 26-year-old man was driving even though he is currently serving a driving ban that runs until 2021.

Both of them passed an alcohol test while the man has pleaded guilty to the multiple traffic charges, according to local media.

If found guilty, the man, who has not been named, faces up to three years in prison. It is unclear if his unnamed girlfriend has been fined or if she faces any charges too.
