Baby Girl Survives After Mum And Gran Bury Her Alive

This baby girl has survived after her mother and grandmother buried her alive to cover up the mother’s affair from her husband who was serving time in jail.

The incident took place in the Bahcecik neighbourhood of the city of Adiyaman, which is located in south-eastern Turkey’s Adıyaman Province, when the mum and the gran allegedly buried the baby girl alive in a cemetery.

High school students who were visiting the cemetery started hearing a baby crying. They searched the area and soon found a partially buried newborn baby.

They alerted the authorities and police and an ambulance were quickly on the scene.

Medics took the baby girl, who has been named as Fatma by local media outlet Haberler, to Adiyaman Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, while the police detained the newborns mother and grandmother, who have not been named.

The mother reportedly told police: “I had an affair after my husband went to prison.”

They then allegedly decided to leave the baby at the cemetery.

The mother reportedly said: “I became pregnant from this relationship and gave birth to a baby girl. When we came home after the birth, my mother and I decided to leave the baby somewhere because we couldn’t explain it to anyone. Then we went to the cemetery, where many people would visit, and left it next to a grave.”

Both the mother and the grandmother were released by the police after questioning but are being kept under judicial control. It is currently unclear if they face further action.
