In Mexico, 18 percent of girls and boys under the age of five have not yet reached adequate development due to nutritional deficiencies and almost half of the country’s children and adolescents live in poverty.

According to UNICEF, in April 2017, there were a total of 1.6 million minors orphaned in Mexico.
