Baby Boy Hospitalised After Eating Parents Hashish

A baby boy has been hospitalised in intensive care after reportedly eating a chunk of his 33-year-old parents’ hashish.

The incident took place on 28th January on Svetlanovsky Avenue in the north-western Russian city of Saint Petersburg when the young boy, who was born in 2019, reportedly found a lump of hashish in his parent’s flat and consumed it.

According to reports, an ambulance was sent to the flat at around 4pm and the tot has been hospitalised since.

A police spokesperson said: “On 28th January 2020 at an apartment on Svetlanovsky Avenue, a baby boy, born in 2019, was hospitalised in a serious condition with acute oral poisoning.

“According to a preliminary investigation, the child ate a plant-based substance, hashish.”

Reports said that the mother, a nursery teacher, and father, a professional carpenter, were not registered as poor or socially vulnerable.

The 33-year-old parents have reportedly been detained on remand at a detention centre as the investigation continues.

According to local media, the unnamed father was arrested for “using violence against a government official” 11 years ago, before the case was eventually dropped.

Last November, the mother was reportedly fined for “the use of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without a doctor’s prescription”.

Meanwhile, their baby son remains in hospital and there have been no further updates on his condition.

The investigation continues.
