According to local media, the baby who still had his umbilical cord attached was left in a box at the entrance to the hospital at around 2 a.m. in the morning and the hospital security guards found him when they heard him crying.

Reports said that doctors who checked him believe he had been born between four and five hours before he was found.

The baby is in a good health condition and reportedly weighs between seven and eight lbs.

The hospital staff named the baby Diego Antonio as they needed a named to register him with at the hospital.

The mother has not been found and the El Salvador Institute for the Development of Children and Teenagers (ISNA) will take the baby to an orphanage where the child will live while the adoption procedures are carried out.
