AUTO CRASH: Out Of Control Tesla Kills Two And Leaves Three Injured In China

This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control Tesla speeds down Chinese streets at a frightening speed leaving two dead and at least three injured.

The shocking incident shows the white Tesla model Y rapidly accelerating shortly after the driver appeared to try and park the car in Chaozhou city in the eastern Chinese province of Guangdong on 5th November.

The car, however, suddenly takes off as it launches itself back onto the road and speeds dangerously fast down crowded streets, with some reports saying that it was travelling at the maximum speed of 150 kph (93.2 mph).

Footage from successive CCTV cameras shows that it hits at least two people on two-wheeled vehicles as it speeds along, and the mad drive only ends when it crashes into a small truck, scattering debris that hit at least two cyclists. The vehicle then finally came to rest after crashing into the side of a building in a cloud of smoke.

The family of the 55-year-old driver who was not named, claims that the car suddenly acted alone and did not respond when he tried to press the brake pedal.

Tesla officials meanwhile have said they are cooperating with local law enforcement officers and point out that data from the car shows that the brake pedal was not used at all during the high-speed drive, and also showed the brake lights not coming on which would have happened if it had been used.

The Tesla driver was one of those that survived the incident and it was confirmed that he had not been drinking or taking drugs by police.

In a statement, the car manufacturer said yesterday (13th November) it was assisting with the investigation saying: “Police are currently seeking a third-party appraisal agency to identify the truth behind this accident and we will actively provide any necessary assistance.”
