Austrian Playboy, 89, Who Took Fergie And Pamela Anderson To Opera Ball To Marry For Sixth Time

Austrian playboy Richard Lugner – who took the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson as well as numerous other celebrities to the Vienna Opera Ball – is to marry for the sixth time at the age of 89 after becoming engaged at his birthday party.

The Austrian property magnate, has been known for the long list of guests he invited to the ball since 1992, including Sophia Loren, Grace Jones, Pamela Anderson, Brigitte Nielsen, and Roger Moore.

His new fiancee, Simone Reilaender, 39, said ‘yes’ in front of guests and she has also not excluded the possibility of having a child with her new hubby.

She is quoted in the Austrian newspaper Oesterreich 24 as saying: “I can make friends with the idea more and more. We could afford it.”

She added: “We have to do some research first. But it usually takes a long time with men.”

According to the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, Lugner started his proposal by saying: “Cupid grabbed me like that, I don’t know what to say about it.”

He then said: “I invite you to move to Vienna with me.”

He added: “We have a lot in common, we want to try to get to know each other better now… If we can do it, we’ll take the next step. Actually, I want to say it’s time we both got engaged.”

Lugner, who famously took Sarah Ferguson to the traditional Opera Ball in 1997, added: “It’s time we got engaged.”

Kronen Zeitung reported that Lugner and Reilaender became engaged two days before the billionaire’s birthday, which was on 11th October.

The event had been organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his shopping centre Lugner City, located in the Austrian capital Vienna, and his 89th birthday.

The Vienna Opera Ball (Wiener Opernball) is an annual Austrian event which takes place in the Vienna State Opera on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday. The ball is one of the highlights of the Viennese carnival season.
