Aston Villa midfielder Nakamba Marvelous has reportedly “snuck” into his home country to marry his long-time girlfriend.

Online news source ‘bmetro’ report former Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous, 25, “snuck” into Zimbabwe to marry his girlfriend Chipo Primrose Makurumure in a private ceremony in the city of Bulawayo in the province with the same name.

Local media said the marriage was an “intimate civil ceremony” and only “few family members and friends” attended the “secret wedding” as sources close to the Villa star claim he wanted to “keep it under wraps”.

A source close to the family reportedly said the reason behind football star’s secrecy is because “he wants to keep his personal life private”.

The source added guests were told “not to take pictures and only two people part of the inner circle of the family were allowed” adding that “he did not invite his close friends and that shows it was a closely guarded thing.”

Local media report Makurumure received a “seal of approval” by Marvelous’ parents after they met as “she gets along well with her in-laws” who consider her to be “respectful and well-cultured (sic)”.

Marvelous was bought by Aston Villa in August of last year from Club Brugge for a reported 10.8 million GBP after helping the Belgian side win the Belgian First Division A in 2018.

Villa are 17th in the Premier League and are set to play the 6th-placed Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 16th February.
